    Staff Geologist or Hydrogeologist

    Wasatch Environmental is seeking a staff level environmental geologist or hydrogeologist to join our team in Salt Lake City, Utah. Wasatch Environmental is engaged in a variety of environmental projects including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments; subsurface investigations with soil, groundwater, and soil gas sampling; groundwater monitoring; and environmental remediation projects. Specific experience in these areas required: Sampling soil, groundwater, and soil gas; Drilling oversight, field screening soils, and logging borings; Installing and developing groundwater monitoring wells; Tabulation and evaluation of environmental data; Assisting with authoring technical reports; and Performing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of project-level and senior-level geologists, hydrogeologists, and environmental scientists; and be expected to learn quickly and take-on increasing levels of responsibilities, and work more independently, as his or her career at Wasatch Environmental progresses. Candidate Requirements - The successful candidate will satisfy the following requirements: A minimum of a 4-year degree (BA or BS) in an earth science or environmental science, a 4-year degree in geology or hydrogeology is preferred; One to three years experience in the field of environmental consulting; Ability to travel for work (about 20% travel time); Must possess a valid Utah driver’s license; A strong desire to constantly learn; Ability to think critically and creatively to solve complex problems; Ability to conduct research;

    • Excellent technical writing skills; Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills; Excellent computer skills (proficient using Word and Excel, the ability to use Corel Draw and/or GIS is preferred); Detail-oriented; Strong work ethic; Previous experience with various field sampling techniques and procedures preferred; The desire and professional ability to pursue and acquire professional licensures and certifications during the ensuing 5 years; OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification with current 8-hour refresher training is preferred*; State of Utah UST Groundwater and Soil Sampler certification is preferred*. (*These certifications are required for this position. If you do not have them upon hire, you will be required to obtain them within 60-days of being hired.)
